Ever since Sidney Rosen founded Filamatic in the early 1950s, it has charted a course that has seen the company evolve into an industry leader within the liquid filling industry. Today, Robert Rosen, Sidney’s son, runs the company and carries the same passion that his father did during the early days of Filamatic.
Filamatic touts its ability to provide the widest range of liquid filling capabilities and industry experience while delivering the lowest cost of ownership for its customers. The company aims to excel in delivering flexible, customized solutions for every stage of its customers’ business growth. Whether they require one machine or a fully integrated system, Filamatic believes it has the experience to ensure that their satisfaction is exceeded.
Filamatic’s product lines have grown over time and adapted well to the marketplace. The company believes attention to detail, precision accuracy, machine quality, customer service and the power of the machines meets the needs of customers and sets it apart.
In addition, the company has a team of cutting-edge engineers with decades of experience that is balanced by a younger group of minds bringing in new energy and ideas. This approach allows Filamatic to be active in a wide array of markets, including the pharmaceutical and medical industries, the diagnostic and biotech industries, the cosmetic and personal care industries, the food and beverage industries and the e-cigarette industry.
“These are all distinct industries that encompass unique customers that need timely solutions,” COO Mark Bennett says. “We attend trade shows and conferences where we get to meet different types of customers, reconnect with partners and showcase our latest equipment.”
“We also focus a lot of energy in online marketing,” Marketing Manager Dorjee Tenpa adds. “The online channel provides the greatest opportunity to reach these market segments.”
Filamatic goes to great lengths to understand its customers’ needs. It knows that clients are looking for partners that understand the challenges they face on a daily basis.
“Our partners face huge manufacturing challenges and tough business decisions,” Bennett says. “We see our customers as partners and truly believe we’re in this together.”
Part of treating customers as partners involves studying and understanding their ever-changing challenges. Filamatic has a focused customer service team that gets to know clients intimately.
“We have a very well-known, high level of customer service throughout the industry,” Tenpa says. “We’re continually striving to make impactful changes in the way we service our customer base by listening. We’re always looking to improve upon things.”
Pushing the Envelope
Finding ways to innovate with its machine technology is another way Filamatic has differentiated itself. The company regularly reviews product offerings, continually coming up with new and creative tests to push its machinery.
Currently, Filamatic is pushing and integrating where applicable an in-process checkweighing capability. This system can execute an accurate tare weight on an empty bottle prior to filling and an accurate gross weight post filling. If there is a discrepancy with a weight for whatever reason, there’s a real-time adjustment as well as reject capacity that isolates those specific bottles while still executing an ongoing rate. This in-process checkweighing feature is not offered by many liquid filling manufacturers. Filamatic feels that of those that do offer this highly technical process, not many do it well.
In addition, the company looks to stay ahead of the curve with technology used internally. Filamatic integrates new technology platforms into its efforts to improve engineering and design, customer service, sales and marketing, finance and many other areas of the business.
Filamatic operates in competitive marketplaces, but it believes this brings out the company’s best. Ultimately, due to enhanced competition and variety of options, Filamatic sees the consumers as the big winners in the end.
“A large part of our business comes from repeat customers,” Bennett says. “I believe that speaks volumes about our machine quality, customer service and attention to detail after the sale.”
